Get to Know HUMSS Strand

Choosing a track and strand to specialize in is one of the most crucial decisions for students entering senior high school. In contrast to the previous high school structure, the present K-12 curriculum permits pupils to specialize in tracks (further subdivided into strands) that will lead and facilitate their college travels.
Humanities and Social Sciences, or HUMSS, is one of these tracks.
What is HUMSS?
Humanities and Social Sciences is a specialization available to senior high school students in the Academics concentration. The HUMSS Senior High School track is designed for students who plan to pursue journalism, communication arts, liberal arts, education, and other social science-related college courses. The Senior High School HUMSS track focuses on developing students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills because these courses emphasize interpersonal communication.
A prevalent misperception about the Senior High School HUMSS strand is that it is more simpler than other tracks and strands, or that students enrolled in this strand do not need to study as diligently as those enrolled in other strands (especially those in the Academic track). Although HUMSS may not require as much math and computing as ABM or STEM, it is by no means “less difficult.”
Students in HUMSS will be required to read, write, and present many papers during senior year. Students will be exposed to enlightening topics such as international religions, Philippine and world literature, political and community development specialized courses, and more.
